Sharpie Liquid Pencil
I was very excited to try this innovation in writing out. Really? A "pen" that uses liquid graphite? The idea of a liquid pencil is genius! No more breaking lead, writing as smoothly as a pen, and erasing like a pencil!
As amazing as an innovation as this is for the writing world, I really do not have that much positive feedback so far. It is refillable which is a plus, however the refills are somewhat pricy. It writes very smoothly after you adjust to the ammount of pressure that is needed to get a smooth full line, otherwise you will notice that it writes like an almost dead ballpoint pen. Once you get the ammount of pressure down though, it does become a somewhat pleasant writing experience. It erases very easily, and with all erasers... not just the ones that come with it. It also erases with my finger, not completely but it definitely lightens it considerably. It is not a good choice for drawing and shading either. It becomes very difficult to get the shading (darker and lighter) with this product. One of the things that caught my attention about the packaging was that it says it is permanent after 24 hours, and that it is a #2 equivalent.
On the permanence of this product, "... the liquid graphite in the Sharpie Liquid Pencil initially erases completely from paper, but over time it becomes "permanent" in the sense that it can no longer be completely erased. Unlike a Sharpie permanent marker, you will always be able to erase it to some degree." (Sharpie Blog). Additionally, the liquid pencil is NOT approved for ALL scantron brands, so they do not recommend using them during standardized testing. It runs about $7.00 for a 2 pack and the refills are about $4.00 each. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this product to anyone.....
